Crypto.com Visa Card Royal Indigo / Jade Green
A plan byCrypto.com Visa Card · Visa
Crypto.com's Visa card comes in 5 tiers (from Midnight Blue to Obsidian): zero FX markup, free ATM withdrawals up to a cap and CRO cashback that climbs to 5% on the higher tiers. The high cashback, however, requires locking CRO in staking — tying up capital and exposing you to the token's price risk.

Strengths
- Zero FX markup (0%)
- Up to 5% CRO cashback on higher tiers
- Free card, no mandatory fee
- Free ATM withdrawals within the monthly cap
- No notable sovereignty advantage documented.
Weaknesses
- High cashback requires CRO staking: locked capital and price risk
- Staking lock-up of up to 180 days
- Tier cashback cut versus launch levels (2022-23)
- Custodial: the platform holds your funds and can freeze or lose them.
- Full KYC required: verified identity, zero pseudonymity.
- Subject to regulation (MiCA CASP (Malta) · MAS (SG) · VASP): reporting to authorities and freezes on order.
Verdict
The high rating builds on 0% FX markup, free ATM withdrawals up to a cap, no mandatory fee, a MiCA CASP licence in Malta and OAM registration: a cost structure very favourable to the user. The trap to flag is the high cashback, which only reaches 5% by locking CRO in staking — up to 180 days of lock-up — tying up capital and exposing you to the token's price risk; the tiers have also been cut versus the 2022-23 launch.
Through this lens Crypto.com is unconvincing: custodial, full KYC, no on-chain settlement and minimal privacy. The CRO staking required for top cashback is a form of capture inside the issuer's ecosystem — the opposite of self-custody: funds and rewards depend on the platform and a volatile token, with no trustless guarantee.
