CoinJar Card
CoinJar · Mastercard
CoinJar has been an industry pioneer in Australia since 2013, registered with AUSTRAC and the FCA. Its 2.99% FX markup is very high, however, and rewards are paid in points rather than in crypto.

Plans & pricing
Strengths
- Pioneer in Australia from 2013; registered AUSTRAC and FCA.
- No notable sovereignty advantage documented.
Weaknesses
- FX 2,99% very high; reward in points not in crypto.
- Custodial: the platform holds your funds and can freeze or lose them.
- Full KYC required: verified identity, zero pseudonymity.
- Subject to regulation (AUSTRAC (Australia) · FCA (UK)): reporting to authorities and freezes on order.
Verdict
The C tier reflects a weak trade-off: in its favour is a pioneer operating since 2013 and registered with AUSTRAC and the FCA, but the consumer pays a very high 2.99% FX markup and receives rewards in CoinJar points rather than crypto, effectively wiping out real cashback. Unavailability in Italy rounds out an uncompetitive picture.
On the crypto-native side there's little to salvage: a custodial, full-KYC card with no on-chain settlement, where closed-loop points rewards bind the user to the issuer's ecosystem instead of returning value on-chain. No self-custody, no censorship resistance: a product built for the traditional rails.
