SecondFi Card
SecondFi · Visa
SecondFi Card is the first self-custodial card from SecondFi, EMURGO's non-custodial neofinance platform (EMURGO is a co-founding entity of Cardano, and SecondFi is the evolution of the Yoroi wallet), built on Wirex infrastructure (a Visa principal member) and announced in May 2026. It lets users spend at any Visa merchant while keeping funds in their own wallet until the moment of the transaction (on-chain settlement), with multi-chain support (ADA, BTC, ETH, USDC and other assets). Important: many of the card's economic parameters are not yet publicly documented: issuance fee, annual fee, FX markup and cashback percentage (cashback is confirmed but the rate is undisclosed) are set to 0 here in the absence of official figures. ATM limits and fees are also undisclosed and therefore omitted.

Strengths
- Self-custodial: funds stay in the user's wallet until payment, with on-chain settlement.
- Multi-chain (Cardano, Bitcoin, Ethereum, USDC and others) on the global Visa network, with virtual and physical cards.
- Backed by EMURGO (co-founder of Cardano) and Wirex infrastructure, a Visa principal member.
- Self-custody: funds stay in your wallet — the platform cannot touch them.
Weaknesses
- Economic parameters (issuance fee, annual fee, FX markup, cashback %) not yet officially disclosed.
- Not a bank nor a regulated EMI in its own right: it relies on Wirex infrastructure.
- Limited geographic availability and team flagged as unverified by third-party sources.
- Full KYC required: verified identity, zero pseudonymity.
Verdict
SecondFi Card is self-custodial: funds stay in the user's wallet until payment, reducing the counterparty risk typical of custodial cards. However SecondFi is neither a bank nor a regulated EMI in its own right and relies on Wirex infrastructure; it requires full KYC and many economic parameters are still undisclosed.
Strong sovereignty stance for a card: the user keeps custody of assets (ADA, BTC, ETH, USDC and others) with on-chain settlement until the moment of spending. The weak point is mandatory full KYC and reliance on the centralized Visa/Wirex infrastructure.
