Solution Bank — Conto Yes

Solution Bank S.p.A.

3.5/5 0.4/5 · Data verified on

Conto Yes is Solution Bank's online deposit, available only digitally to individuals resident in Italy. The structure is straightforward: an unrestricted balance at 0.1% gross, and above it "locked tranches" the customer can create without limit, combining term, start date, rate and amount. Rates climb from 2.50% at 6 months to 3.25% from 36 to 60 months, with a plateau at 3.00% between 12 and 24 months. Two things set it apart: there is no cap on total balance, and at maturity the term ends by itself «with no possibility of rollover», so there is no risk of being locked in through inattention. In exchange the term cannot be shortened or closed early, and entry is €5,000.

Strengths

  • No cap on total balance: the information sheet explicitly states «None», rare in a category where ceilings run from €250,000 to €3m.
  • Automatic rollover is contractually excluded: at maturity the term ends by itself and the capital returns to the unrestricted balance, with no cancellations to remember.
  • Multiple locked tranches can run in parallel, freely combining term, start date and amount: maturities can be staggered at will.
  • Clean cost structure: opening, transactions, management and settlement are all zero.
  • No notable sovereignty advantage documented.

Weaknesses

  • Rigid lock-up: the term can neither be shortened nor closed early. There is no penalty because there is no option.
  • The unrestricted balance pays 0.1% gross, which after withholding tax and stamp duty gives −0.126%: capital parked outside the locked tranches loses value in nominal terms.
  • €5,000 entry per locked tranche, ten times Banca Sistema's threshold.
  • The plateau between 12 and 24 months pays an identical 3.00%: locking up for two years instead of one brings nothing extra.
  • Custodial: the platform holds your funds and can freeze or lose them.
  • Full KYC required: verified identity, zero pseudonymity.
  • Subject to regulation (Italian banking licence (Bank of Italy)): reporting to authorities and freezes on order.

Verdict

B D ★ 3.5/5 ★ 0.4/5

Score 3.5/5, solid profile. In its favour: no cap on total balance: the information sheet explicitly states «None», rare in a category where ceilings run from €250,000 to €3m. The trade-off to weigh: rigid lock-up: the term can neither be shortened nor closed early. There is no penalty because there is no option.

On the Sovereignty lens the score is 0.4/5 (weak): the strength is censorship resistance (1.5/5), while fund control (0.0/5) is the weak link.

FAQ

What does 3.25% actually pay?

2.205% net. The 26% withholding tax applies to 3.25% gross, bringing it to 2.405%, then the 0.2% annual stamp duty on the balance is subtracted, which the information sheet places on the customer. Watch the comparisons: a 3.00% from a bank that absorbs the stamp duty pays 2.22% net, and therefore beats this 3.25%.

Can I close the term early?

No. The 1 July 2026 information sheet is blunt: «Conto Yes does not allow the term to be shortened, nor the deposit to be closed early». Money that might be needed should stay on the unrestricted balance, which however pays only 0.1% gross.

Is there a cap on how much I can deposit?

No — the information sheet states «None» as the maximum total balance. Remember though that the Italian deposit guarantee scheme covers €100,000 per depositor: anything above that stays exposed to counterparty risk and to bail-in rules, however high the contractual ceiling.

Does the term roll over automatically?

No, and it is stated explicitly: at maturity the term «ends automatically, with no possibility of rollover», and capital plus interest are credited to the deposit account. It is a safeguard against the commonest fixed-term mistake — staying locked in because you forgot to cancel.

Where must the money come from?

The transfer must come from a current account in the customer's name held at a bank in Italy. There is no need to open a current account with Solution Bank: Conto Yes is a standalone relationship.
