Plans & pricing

Strengths

  • Complete travel package: Priority Pass Prestige, €300/year dining credit, €150 travel voucher, Fine Hotels + Resorts
  • Very rich welcome bonus: 150,000 Membership Rewards points spending €14,000 in the first 6 months (by 14 July 2026)
  • No pre-set spending limit and 1 Platinum + 4 supplementary Gold cards included
  • Membership Rewards 1 point per €1 and top-tier travel insurance
  • No notable sovereignty advantage documented.

Weaknesses

  • Very high €840/year fee: worth it only by fully using the travel perks
  • Charge card: the statement must be paid in full, no instalments
  • 2.5% FX fee and required income ≥€45,000
  • American Express network less accepted than Visa/Mastercard, especially at small merchants
  • Traditional credit card: not self-custody — the account requires full KYC, a credit check, and can be closed or reported to credit bureaus by the issuer.
  • Full KYC required: verified identity, zero pseudonymity.
  • Funds can be frozen at the platform’s discretion.
  • Subject to regulation (American Express card issuer (IT)): reporting to authorities and freezes on order.
  • FATF-aligned jurisdiction: strong cooperation with authorities.

Verdict

B D ★ 3.5/5 ★ 1.0/5

The Platinum Card is a premium charge card that is worth its €840/year fee only for frequent travellers: Priority Pass Prestige, €300 dining credit, €150 travel voucher and Fine Hotels + Resorts can exceed the cost, and the 150,000-point welcome bonus is among the richest on the market. For the ordinary spender it is an expensive card, with 2.5% FX, €45,000 income required and lower Amex acceptance. The rating stays average because the value depends almost entirely on the travel profile.

A credit card is a credit line, not custody of funds: there is neither self-custody nor a user balance here. It remains, however, a fully tracked and censorable instrument — full KYC, an American Express (US group) issuer that profiles transactions and can suspend the line. On the sovereignty lens it is the opposite of trustless tools: no anonymity, no censorship resistance.
